The community we serve: Abergavenny and the surrounding villages

Our approach to local news: We deliver hyper-local news. We report on what matters to our readers, challenge the local authority (Monmouthshire County Council) and Abergavenny Town Council as well as the Senedd Member and the MP. We report on local council and parish council meetings and activities important to local groups and societies.

What is great about the area we serve: Beautiful scenery, lively town, friendly communities who help each other out and good strong local businesses who serve our communities. Abergavenny is an important market town in Monmouthshire offering a wealth of history with its own castle and museum, entertainment from local theatre groups and active community groups such as KAT (Keep Abergavenny Tidy).

How we help advertising clients: Our commercial colleagues provide a range of advertising opportunities to help clients promote their business and to generate more customers. We provide business profiles to let readers know the stories behind the firms. There is a monthly property supplement with local estate agents playing a prominent part in the production and we give space to new businesses alongside old established ones. We are happy to report their good news in the paper and online.

"We have our finger on the pulse of what goes on locally and what matters to our readers."

- Abergavenny Chronicle

How we make a difference: We give our readers a voice via our community news and letters pages. We have our finger on the pulse of what goes on locally and what matters to our readers both local and Wales wide via Welsh government news that affects our communities.

Our history: We are the local weekly newspaper which has been serving our community since we were established in 1871 with an office in the heart of the town centre. Now with a well-read website, the Abergavenny Chronicle serves the market town of Abergavenny and the surrounding districts.
