The communities we serve: Monmouth Town and surrounding villages.

Our approach to local news: Hyper-local. We report on what matters to our readers, challenge the local authority (Monmouthshire County Council) and Monmouth Town Council as well as the Senedd Member and the MP. We report on local council and parish council meetings and activities important to local groups and societies.

What is great about the area we serve: Monmouth is on the edge of the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty offering local communities ample opportunities to explore the local countryside while enjoying a close knit town centre and outlying villages

How we help advertising clients: The advertising team help business clients promote their goods and services to generate more customers by offering marketing opportunities across print and digital platforms. We work with Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and Monmouth Town Council to promote businesses in the town and surrounding areas highlighting the services they offer to the local communities in the vicinity. We carry out profile articles on local businesses highlighting their services and their local staff.

“We report on what matters to our readers and the communities we serve.”

- Monmouthshire Beacon

How we make a difference: We report on what matters to our readers and the communities we serve. We cover local and parish council meetings and highlight events and areas of local concern giving readers a voice in what matters to them via our community news and letters page.

Our history: The Monmouthshire Beacon was established in October 1837 and has been serving the local community ever since. We are in the process of finding new premises for the newspaper having left our office in the town centre. Our readers will be the first to know when they can visit our new premises and keep in touch with local staff.
