Tindle Newspapers, the regional publishing group which bucked the trend at the beginning of December by giving the staff of its 230 newspapers titles a Christmas bonus despite the recession, has brought another title to the group by buying a well-established monthly circulating on the Devon/Somerset border.
The group has bought the monthly View From Blackdown Hills from View From Publishing Ltd, the company from which Tindle acquired four other titles around Axminster in Devon early this year.
Chairman Sir Ray Tindle said he was delighted with this acquisition which meant an extension to his circulation area in the South West. “This Blackdown Hills paper is an excellent editorial and advertising publication” he said “and we are proud to have it in our family. There is a big future for these community newspapers”.
Brian Doel, Tindle group managing director, said “We much look forward to working with the Blackdown Hills business community and the Blackdown Hills area of Outstanding Beauty. This newspaper is very local community based and will fit very well with the four ‘View From’ papers we bought earlier this year. It will strengthen our position in the Devon and Somerset areas”.
