More than 250 businesses benefitted from expert advice on how to maximise the impact of their marketing activity during an exclusive series of free Isle of Man Newspapers events.

The Isle Of Man Business Club sessions, organised for the second year running by Media Isle of Man, part of the Tindle Newspapers group, updated delegates on the best ways to reach customers in the current economic climate.

Businesses attending the event had the opportunity to join the Isle of Man Business Club, providing access to marketing opportunities at prices frozen for an extended period despite rising inflation, which gave firms the chance to plan their future marketing at an agreed rate.

Presentations took place over four days at the Claremont Hotel in Douglas and the nearby Comis Golf Club resort, as representatives of the Media Isle of Man commercial team highlighted the opportunities for local advertisers looking to reach engaged markets.

The events included presentations from international expert Nick Shaw and Becki Leachman, of global marketing leaders Evolve Media Sales.

The topics covered included the advantages of nostalgia advertising, the strategy of tapping into familiar concepts from previous decades to build trust for new campaigns which has been taken up by global brands.

The speakers also covered the advantages of sequential marketing, whereby businesses use a run of advertisements to tell a story and prompt responses from customers.

Fantastic opportunity

The presentations also looked at the benefits of long-term marketing campaigns for business growth.

Dan Williams, Commercial Manager for Isle of Man Newspapers, said: “It was fantastic to see so many businesses attend the Media IOM Business Club event for 2023 and help them take the opportunity to freeze their marketing costs.

“We have seen a complete sell-out of the memberships available and we are now looking forward to working with these businesses to support their future marketing campaigns, helping them make the right choice on how to drive their business forward over the year ahead.”

Nick Shaw, Director at Evolve Media Sales, said: “Once again we have been overwhelmed with the interest from the Isle of Man business community towards not only the annual Business Growth Events, but also the new Media Isle of Man Business Club membership opportunity.

“It was a pleasure to meet the hundreds of local businesses from a variety of sectors that attended the free presentations, which not only provided insight into future buying behaviour but also showed them how to make marketing memorable.

“The Isle of Man is always a favourite spot of mine on the presentation calendar, and I am already looking forward to being back in 2024.”
