Liz Davies Regional Editor Wales East
Nick Hartland Reporter

The communities we serve: Ross-on-Wye and the surrounding villages.

Our approach to local news: We report on what matters to our readers, holding authority to account as well as reporting on human interest stories and providing in-depth sport and events coverage. We report on local council and parish council meetings and activities important to local groups and societies.

What is great about the area we serve: Ross-on-Wye is an historic market town described as “the jewel in the crown of Herefordshire”. The town offers a huge selection of venues for eating out, and is the perfect starting point for those seeking to explore the Wye Valley, Herefordshire and Wales. A popular destination for tourists, Ross offers a wide range of shops and activities, meaning there is something for everyone.

How we help advertising clients: Working across our popular print and digital platforms, the commercial team help business clients market their goods and services to generate more customers. We feature business profiles to let readers know the stories behind the firms, while regular advertising features shine a spotlight on local businesses, and we are happy to report their good news in the paper and online.

“We have our finger on the pulse of what goes on locally and what matters to our readers.”

How we make a difference: We give our readers a voice via our community news and letters pages. We have our finger on the pulse of what goes on locally and what matters to our readers.

Our history: In its role as Ross-on-Wye’s weekly newspaper, The Ross Gazette has served the area around Ross-on-Wye since 1867. In 2018, the Gazette was awarded funding from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) to help digitise our archives, to mark 150 years of the newspaper.
