Your Local Tavistock Times Gazette Team
The communities we serve: We serve the communities of West Devon and the Tamar Valley including Tavistock, Bere Alston, Yelverton, Horrabridge, Princetown, Okehampton, Hatherleigh, North Tawton and Chagford, Callington, Gunnislake and Calstock.
Our approach to local news: We are a hyperlocal news organisation with journalists living and working in the areas they serve with a base in the heart of the high street of Tavistock. We cover hard and soft news stories, features and sport, community news and columns from local people and events.
What is great about the area we serve: Our areas are rural and spread out but full of news, culture and characters. West Devon and the Tamar Valley include Dartmoor Natural Park and the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty so the environment features heavily in our news coverage. It is a beautiful place to work.
How we help advertising clients: To reach the widest possible audiences across our popular print and digital platforms, the commercial team working closely with local business clients to help them market their goods and services with positive messaging to generate more customers. With a well established office in the centre of the high street we are very accessible to customers and have a very friendly approach and a vast amount of local knowledge. Advertising executives work closely with editorial staff to give the best profile to our clients, both in print and online
“We are an information service for local people and a valuable and trustworthy source of news.”- Tavistock Times Gazette
How we make a difference: We make a difference by holding local government to account, featuring inspirational stories and raising local issues. We are an information service for local people and a valuable and trustworthy source of news. We encourage debate and feature local campaigns to bring about change.
Our history: The Tavistock Times Gazette dates back to 1857. The East Cornwall Times was established in 1859 but was recently renamed the Tamar Valley Times. The Okehampton Times was established in 1859. The hyperlocal ethos of the newspaper has remained the same but developments in technology and changes in the way people demand their news means that we can now provide news round the clock through our websites and social media platforms
