Your Local Midlands 103 Team
The communities we serve: Counties Laois, Offaly and Westmeath.
Our approach to radio: Midlands 103 is a full service local station that is home to Ireland’s PPI Current Affairs Programme of the Year, with award-winning speech and music programming across a broad schedule. The message of Feel Good Radio guides everything we do, not only in our relationship with listeners but with staff and clients as well.
What is great about the area we serve: Laois, Offaly and Westmeath are Ireland’s hidden heartlands, decorated by the mighty River Shannon, majestic Slieve Bloom Mountains and ancient peat boglands. The region boasts a Technological University in Athlone, with pharmaceutical and IT companies pointing to the future, while fostering rural enterprise and heritage to anchor with our past. Each county has a distinct and proud identity, which are rivals in sport but united in community.
How we help advertising clients: Midlands 103 is a one-stop shop for business marketing. We are proud to deliver Ireland’s largest local radio audience, outside Dublin and Cork, offering unbeatable value in terms of customer reach. However, we place great importance on the creative process to ensure we understand our clients, their unique selling points and how to craft a message that maximises impact, conversion and return on investment. We work with local and national brands to develop bespoke multimedia integrated solutions, from FM to display advertising, social media campaigns, high-quality video production, inventive sponsorships, promotions and live events.
“We tirelessly support local charities, voluntary organisations and small businesses that are the lifeblood of our community. We love where we live.”
- Midlands 103How we make a difference: We are privileged to speak with 122,000 listeners every week, to be welcomed into their homes, workplaces, cars or wherever they may listen. This intimate connection is sustained by trust, whether in our journalists, our presenters or our advertisers. We strive to be an influence for positive change, highlighting injustices, giving voice to the voiceless and companionship to the lonely. We support local musicians so they can be the soundtrack to our lives and we tirelessly support local charities, voluntary organisations and small businesses that are the lifeblood of our community. We love where we live.
Our history: First launched as ‘Radio 3’ in 1990, later rebranding as Midlands Radio 3 and eventually adopting its current name in 2003, Midlands 103 was acquired by the Tindle Family that same year. Initially based in Gleeson’s Mall on William Street in Tullamore before moving to state-of-the-art headquarters in the Axis Business Park. It also operates permanent studios in Harbour Place Shopping Centre Mullingar, with broadcast pods also in The Bridge Centre and Athlone Town Centre.
