Record-breaking response for ‘brighten up’ radio campaign

Standard Bank Offshore’s Brighten Up Blue Monday initiative, delivered in partnership with Channel 103

Standard Bank Offshore’s Brighten Up Blue Monday initiative, delivered in partnership with Channel 103, has received a record-breaking 1,455 nominations this year, marking the highest number of entries since the campaign launched four years ago.

The initiative aims to spread positivity and give back to the community on what is often referred to as the most challenging day of the year.

Islanders are encouraged to nominate charities and community groups that deserve recognition and support, helping to turn Blue Monday into a celebration of kindness and connection.

In total, an impressive 151 different charities were nominated, highlighting the depth and diversity of community support across the island.

Each year, selected charities receive a £500 donation, while one of the individuals who nominated the winning charities is chosen at random to also be rewarded with a voucher as a thank-you for their support.

Winning charities

The three winning charities for 2026 are The Wellbeing Hub, which provides a co-working and events space for wellbeing charities and social enterprises, Happy Heroes, which supports children with additional needs and their families through inclusive activities and experiences, and Jersey Employment Trust (JET), which helps people with disabilities and long-term health conditions develop skills and find meaningful employment.

Together, these organisations represent the wide range of vital services and support networks that make a meaningful difference across Jersey.

Alastair Gallichan, Head of Brand and Marketing for Jersey at Standard Bank Offshore, said: “Seeing so many people take the time to nominate a local charity shows just how strong and supportive our community really is. Brighten Up Blue Monday is about celebrating that spirit, recognising everyday heroes and spreading some cheer when it’s needed most.

“We’re proud to be behind an initiative that brings people together and shines a light on the incredible work happening here in Jersey. Standard Bank Offshore* is committed to supporting the communities in which we operate.”

As the initiative continues to grow year on year, Brighten Up Blue Monday remains a positive reminder of the power of kindness, recognising the good in others and supporting one another, even on the most difficult days.
