Your Local Team

Gef, our irreverent news website for the Isle of Man, has provided us with a wider audience beyond traditional local publishing.

As the team state: “At Gef The Mongoose, we want to write, publish and share interesting and wonderful things that the good people of the Isle of Man actually find entertaining, inspiring, interesting, thought-provoking.

“Gef has lived on the Isle for most of his life and has so many interesting stories and tales to tell.”

Isle Of Man Newspapers, part of the Tindle group, completed the purchase of digital media platform Gef the Mongoose in 2022 to strengthen their online reach on the island.

Founded in 2017, Gef the Mongoose publishes Isle of Man news and information with a distinctive and irreverent tone, creating new opportunities for advertisers.

The website operates alongside our other brands, including Tindle news website Isle of Man Today.

The message for advertisers is clear: “Our aim is to evolve local media and advertising beyond traditional formats.

“We’d love to work with you to run creative digital advertising and content marketing campaigns that will deliver tangible, measurable results your brand.”

Sam Jones, Development Director for Media Isle of Man, says: “ is a uniquely-positioned bold, spirited and informative news and lifestyle platform on the Isle of Man.

“The acquisition of Gef is part of Tindle’s evolution from a print-focussed business to a multimedia news organisation incorporating digital, video, social, apps and more.”

- Scott Wood, Managing Director of Tindle Newspapers Ltd

“It has a strong and lively identity which engages an impressive number of followers, with high levels of affection for the Gef brand across a wide demographic.

“Gef’s popularity to date is owed to its quirky and tongue-in-cheek reporting on community news, political matters and local sport.

“Moving forward, Gef will increasingly embrace the island’s wider community network with the introduction of lifestyle features and listings focusing on entertainment, food and drink, faces and places, events and outdoor living.”

Tindle Managing Director Scott Wood said: “We are pleased to welcome the Gef team to our growing digital offering for digital audiences.

“The acquisition is part of Tindle’s evolution from a print-focussed business to a multimedia news organisation incorporating digital, video, social, apps and more.”
