Anna Coutin is the finance business partner for our radio businesses in the Channel Islands, covering Channel 103, Island FM, Soleil Radio and Bailiwick Broadcasting.
Looking after the finance function for the broadcasting companies, she is based in Jersey having joined in November 2023.
What are the main responsibilities in your role?
I look after the management accounts for the four businesses, delivering them at the end of each month. I monitor all the revenue streams and the debtor reports, along with credit control and the direct debits, plus the payment runs.
Being a broadcasting company we also have music royalties to manage. In this type of role you are expected to have your finger on the pulse, to spot things, advise and learn. I do some admin roles having taken on the extra management duties.
Which jobs did you have before you joined the company?
Prior to joining I ran my own business, which was a membership-based restaurant club, offering events like corporate meetings with a fully functioning kitchen and staff, all accessible only to members. I sold the business in 2023 having run it with my husband. I enjoyed running my own business and had my accountancy qualifications, which I wanted to use in a new role. Tindle Radio seemed like a nice environment to work in, with more stability than having my own business.
What was the appeal of joining Tindle?
I liked the way the role was outlined in the advert. It was encouraging and as I am a detail orientated person it appealed to me. Radio sounded interesting. I had not worked in the industry before.
What is a typical working day in your role?
I perform a range of admin tasks and activities aligned to the bank reconciliation, processing invoices and doing the payment runs. I field questions about the company finances, manage the debtors and make sure all the sales team know which payments need to be chased. I produce the end of month reports including the management accounts.
Which colleagues do you interact with the most in your working day?
I keep in close contact with the sales team and the senior management team. I enjoy my role because of the management’s support. Having run my own business I have different views on finance and I value the responsibility and respect given to me.
What do you enjoy about working for Tindle?
I really enjoy the autonomy I have in my role, given by the management team. When everything reconciles in the finances, it gives me great satisfaction. I have a young family so I appreciate the work-life balance. Working in radio I am impressed by how powerful it is as a medium. The production and scheduling side is very interesting, too.
What are your interests outside of work?
I love travelling, which is a passion of mine. I like history and am always exploring the lives of historic figures. I am interested in the Tudor dynasty and the English royal family. I am half Russian so I am interested in Russia’s history and also have Lithuanian and Polish roots.
