The editor of one of our Devon titles has received a special award in recognition of his support for a longstanding local business.
Alan Quick, Editor of the Crediton Courier newspaper, was thrilled to attend an evening to celebrate 50 years of Devon business Mole Avon Country Stores on Saturday, September 28, at Exeter Chiefs HQ at Sandy Park, Exeter.
And he was honoured and shocked to be presented with a surprise award.
Chairman John Lee OBE DL and Mike Haines, chief executive, presented Alan with a Lifelong Supporter Award for his support for the business as Editor of the Crediton Courier newspaper.
With staff, suppliers, guests and friends of the company, Alan enjoyed a Grand Gala Celebration hosted by former Exeter Chiefs player Chris Bentley, a Champagne reception, three-course dinner, music with live band, the fabulous Loose Cannons Band and wonderful Chloe Marie Aston, the Piano Bike Girl.
Alan said: “It was a total surprise to be presented with a surprise award for my support for the business over many years.
“I have worked for the Crediton Courier for 48 years and seen Mole Avon grow and prosper into a multi-million pound business which now employs nearly 200 people across four sites.
“It has been a privilege to help it with its news coverage and advertising over such a long period of time.
“The hospitality at the Gala was amazing, congratulations to the other 10 award winners, we had a ball!
“We all took home generous goody bags too, thank you Mole Avon for your kindness.”
Mole Avon Country Stores sells farm and country supplies. It stocks a selection of agricultural equipment and rural living essentials at competitive prices. It has stores in Crediton, Okehampton, Axminster and Whitstone in Devon.
