Female radio presenters look back on year of progress

A group of radio presenters who responded to a call for fresh female talent by our radio station in Ireland have reflected on a year of progress.

Midlands 103, our award-winning station covering Laois, Offaly and Westmeath, launched the Step Up To The Mic Challenge for the women in the midlands last year on International Women’s Day.

The course was designed as only one in five applicants for an on-air job is female.

Mary Sherwin, Síle Reynolds, Catherine Ryan and Helen Stynes answered the call and have been learning about radio with the Midlands 103 crew.

The group, who have rebranded themselves as the Midlands 103 Loose Ladies, got together to discuss the challenges they have faced, struggling with confident, parenthood and who does the housework better.
