First articles published in food charity partnership

The first content in our drive to support a leading food redistribution charity has been published in our titles.

Tindle’s partnership with FareShare South West, FareShare Cymru and FareShare Sussex & Surrey has begun delivering results, with the first editorial features and adverts appearing across our local titles to highlight the charity’s crucial food redistribution efforts.

Full page features, localised for each of the regions, were published in the print editions in the three areas last week, alongside advertising to encourage communities to get involved.

The collaboration, announced in July, provides these three FareShare network partners with extensive media coverage across Tindle’s newspapers, websites and digital platforms, showcasing their work redistributing surplus food from the food industry to more than 8,000 frontline charities and community groups nationwide.

FareShare operates as the UK’s leading food redistribution charity, with regional partners managing operations across Wales, the South West, Sussex and Surrey.

Through this partnership, Tindle’s editorial teams are working directly with these organisations to ensure comprehensive coverage of their activities and impact.

We are providing editorial coverage across all its news brands in print, online and social media, while also donating up to £100,000 in advertising space for key campaigns and messaging.

Regional effort

Additionally, Tindle is encouraging staff participation through volunteering opportunities at FareShare centres throughout these regions.

Jon Gripton, Assistant to the group CEO, is coordinating the Tindle effort. He said: “We are really proud to have played a part in highlighting the work of FareShare South West, FareShare Cymru, and FareShare Sussex and Surrey, together with FareShare UK, in this unique partnership with Tindle Newspapers Ltd.

“We recognise the impact these amazing charities make and are giving considerable editorial and commercial space across our print and digital channels. And hopefully some of our crew will also turn up to volunteer!”

The FareShare food redistribution network serves diverse organisations including schools, refuges, community centres, faith groups and homelessness shelters, to help local charities to deliver essential services while building community connections, reducing isolation and enhancing employment prospects for people in need.

Recent data shows that across Wales, Sussex, Surrey and the South West, more than 700 charities received food via the FareShare network in the past year, reaching approximately 81,000 people with the equivalent of nearly 9.25 million meals.
