Gef celebrates young talent on Isle of Man

Gef and Media Isle of Man, our brands on the Isle of Man, have honoured the cream of the young talent with the 30 Under 30 awards celebration.

Bringing together the best of the community, the 30 Under 30 winners showed the bright future for the Island.

The following article was published by Gef and Media Isle of Man to commemorate the achievements: With 31% of the island’s community being under the age of 30, Gef and Media Isle of Man decided it was time to put our island’s future leaders into the spotlight.

We wanted to find and celebrate a selection of 30 outstanding young people, give them a platform to showcase their achievements, and shout about how amazing they really are.

To do this, we split our 30 winners into 10 categories, each supported by a different category partner who, just like us, is passionate about recruiting, retaining and developing outstanding young talent:

  • University College Isle of Man – Achievement
  • Stonehage Fleming – Collaboration
  • Heron & Brearley – Community Impact
  • Games Global – Creativity
  • Capital International Group – Disruptors
  • Acantha – Entrepreneurship
  • Zurich – Innovation
  • Jacksons – Leadership
  • Isle of Man Energy – Sustainability
  • Expol – Trailblazers

30 Under 30’s headline partner for the campaign was Amber Gaming, whilst Department for Enterprise showed excellent support for the Winners Party.

Like us, each of the 12 partners for 30 Under 30 are committed to celebrating and encouraging a future generation of exceptional talent driving the success of our island.

Nominations received

Following an energetic nominations window – which saw 153 varied entries from across our island’s business network and wider community – a rigorous judging process was undertaken to review and select winners from an overwhelming calibre and breadth of nominees.

Winners were announced and, following a professional video and photo shoot with interview, their 30 Under 30 profiles were released on social media and Gef.im.

Engagement and positive response to the Winners’ digital campaign and nomination process was nothing short of overwhelming!

Sam Jones, Development Director for Gef and Media Isle of Man thanked all 12 partners, as well as winners, nominees and those who had put people forward, for helping drive such a positive campaign.

She said, ‘This has been an extremely rewarding journey for all at Gef and Media Isle of Man. A huge thank you to each of our 30 Under 30 Partners – none of this would have been possible without you. We have been inspired and challenged by the quality and volume of entries, and our panel of judges have had a very tricky time in selecting the final 30.’

Sponsor support

Prompted by this challenge, the headline partner, Amber Gaming, went on to create a special additional award which recognised nominees who had shown particular resilience alongside levels of achievement during their early career.

The advice to those who weren’t selected, was to keep up-to- date with next year’s campaign and remember to include a full overview of your role both in your work and the wider island community in future nominations.

30 Under 30 is a celebration of our achievements and contribution in all areas of life, not just in the workplace.

The Winners Party on 18 May marked a close to the campaign and an important celebration of 30 winners and a whole gener- ation of outstanding young people based on the Isle of Man.

The intention is that 30 Under 30 has created a network of aspiring young people and local businesses, who will continue their 30 Under 30 journey, year-round.

We also want to extend a special thank you to our host for the Winners Party, Father Michael Brydon and the team at St Matthew’s Church, North Quay, Douglas.

The church provided a stunning backdrop and venue for the night and we were so thankful to them for being so welcoming and accommodating.
