Tavistock Times Gazette has brand new office

Staff working for our news title for Tavistock in Devon have moved into new office space in a prominent location in the town centre.

The Tavistock Times Gazette team is now operating from modern premises on Brook Street, marking a return to an office the news brand previously occupied.

Mayor of Tavistock Steve Hipsey and consort Cathy Hipsey cut the ribbon to declare 14 Brook Street open.

At a time when local journalism is struggling, the move represents a show of optimism for those who believe in local news.

Mayor Steve said: “This is so important that we have the Tavi Times right here in town, visible, not on some trading estate, or worse still being done by someone in Glasgow on a computer.

“You have been here since 1857, let’s hope you are here for another 100 years.”

Community history

The Tavistock Times Gazette serves the communities of West Devon and the Tamar Valley including Tavistock, Bere Alston, Yelverton, Horrabridge, Princetown, Okehampton, Hatherleigh, North Tawton and Chagford, Callington, Gunnislake and Calstock.

Lianne Carr, Regional Sales Director, said: “Having started my career with Tindle 15 years ago, I am delighted to be back in the very office where it all began, continuing to maintain a strong presence on Tavistock’s high street.

“I am proud to work for a company that truly values local offices, places where advertisers and readers can drop in, speak to the local team face-to-face, and put a name to a face.

“Our bright, modern refurbished office has already been warmly received by both staff and visitors, and if you have not popped in yet, we look forward to welcoming you soon.”

Devon Editor Joe Bulmer added: “We are delighted to be moving into our brand-new office in the heart of Tavistock. It shows Tindle’s continued commitment to being in the centre of our communities.

“We have already received several stories from residents keen to visit the new office space. Our readers can pop in and talk to one of our dedicated journalists or advertise with our talented sales team.”
